Coming from all over the Houston area on November 8, 2007, friends of World Christian Broadcasting were challenged to think both historically and globally by Dr. Daniel Pipes, director of the Middle East Forum and a prize-winning columnist for the New York Post and the Jerusalem Post. Dr. Pipes has served in the departments of State and Defense and has taught at the University of Chicago and Harvard University.
The religious dynamic of the world, he said, is divided between Christianity and Islam. A “full-fledged battle” is going on for hearts and souls in many places of the world. Dr. Pipes directed attention away from Islam itself, and toward Islamism which he defined as “a terrorist version of Islam, the religion, into a political ideology that is all-embracing.”
A lively Q & A period followed Dr. Pipes' remarks, Walt Leaver, World Christian Broadcasting board member, served as emcee, while WCB's vice president and president, Andy Baker and Charles Caudill, provided background information and encouraged guests to follow our exciting plans for our Indian Ocean site now being built. The accommodating Westin Galleria Hotel served as venue for the Houston dinner.
Plans are already being made for the next information dinner to be held in Nashville, Tennessee, on May 15, 2008.
