World Christian Broadcasting Presidential Search
The Organization
World Christian Broadcasting (WCB), established in 1976, is a 501(c)(3), non-profit, religious, international broadcaster and service organization that is supported by individuals, churches, foundations and trusts.
World Christian Broadcasting exists so that people in places best served by broadcast media become aware of the Good News of Jesus Christ and want to know more. The principal ministry began in 1983 with broadcasting of Russian, Mandarin Chinese, and English language programming from our short-wave radio station in Anchor Point, AK (FCC-licensed international radio station KNLS-New Life Station).
The KNLS transmitting facility is located on the Sterling Highway between the towns of Anchor Point and Homer, Alaska. KNLS broadcasts using two 100,000-watt transmitters feeding into two dipole curtain antennas measuring approximately 129,600 square feet each. KNLS broadcasts 20 hours of broadcasting every day between the 2 antennas.
The World Christian Broadcasting Operations Center in Franklin, Tennessee, was built and occupied in 1989. It is a 10,000 square foot facility and houses offices for the Administration, Development, Operations, Follow-up and Production departments.
To reach the other half of the world not covered by KNLS, a new station was built in Mahajanga, Madagascar. MWV (Madagascar World Voice) went live in 2016. MWV has three transmitters and three antennas, like those in Alaska, to take programming into the Middle East, Africa, India, Southwestern China, Western Europe, including European Russia, Central and South America. With the addition of the station in Madagascar, five more program languages were added; English for Africa (2016), Arabic (2016), Spanish (2016), Portuguese (2018), and Korean (2023). MWV broadcasts 16 hours of programming every day between the 3 antennas. In addition to short-wave broadcasts, websites and digital apps are maintained in several of these languages.
The programs are assembled at World Christian Broadcasting’s Operations Center in Franklin, Tennessee. Staff writers, linguists and technicians from around the world work together to produce and distribute programming to the stations. Programs are produced in a magazine format for and directed to non-Christian listeners who have had little or no exposure to the concepts and tenets of the ideals of human relations and ethical behavior from the Christian perspective.
The programs are presented in the listener’s native language. They represent a variety of programs, including good music, programs on science, technology, family life improvement, English-as-a-second language and more. Messages about God’s Word and educational programs are featured.
Within the magazine format of programming content, there is always a variety of messages from the Bible that vary in length from 1 to 10 minutes. The aim is to keep the messages brief and simple. Listeners and respondents are never solicited for contributions.
