None of our listeners from Sudan (Khartoum is the capital) has responded to our emails. The crisis is escalating by the day and everyone is running for safety. According to Reuters news, over 300,000 people are at the border trying to cross to neighboring countries of Egypt, Chad, and South Sudan. The UN estimates over 800,000 others to join as refugees. The situation worsens with those without money. More than 40,000 people crossed the border into Egypt by paying hundreds of dollars to make the 620-mile journey from Khartoum. Fighting is now months are people are scrambling looking for safety. Infightings have made humanitarian efforts difficult as the UN World Food Programs fear gunfires and explosions may hinder humanitarian services at the borders.

The port of Sudan where thousands have fled Khartoum seeking evacuation abroad is now the main entrance for aid to many seeking refuge. At World Christian Broadcasting, we share the words of Jesus Christ and we care about our listeners. When they are in crisis we reach out to assure them that Jesus Christ is still Lord even in the most difficult times of our lives. Sudan has been in a tense political crisis since the overthrow of Omar al-Bashir in April 201, one of their long-serving rulers (who served 30 years as president). Most African and Western countries are on the side of the protesters, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates are with the military.

The United States has evacuated hundreds of Americans from Khartoum, all its diplomats and military personnel were airlifted and the embassy closed on April 22. Other Nations have sent in flights to evacuate their citizens from Sudan. Over 500 people were killed in the first week when the war started. 91 percent of the population is Muslim, 5.4 percent are Christians, 2.8 percent follow other religions or are unaffiliated. Please join us in praying for people in Sudan. We are asking for prayers for Sudan.
