Nigeria is the most populated country in the continent of Africa with the estimated population of between 180 to 200 million people. There are 36 States and three major religions – Christianity (strongest in the South), Islam (strongest in the North) and African traditional religion sparingly all over the country.

On February 23 and March 9 respectively, Nigerians went to the polls to elect leaders for the State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, the Senate, Governorships and the Presidency. Of significance, the two Presidential Candidates, incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar (both Moslems) attended church services during their individual campaigns. This is the first time any Muslim candidate running for the office of the Presidency in Nigeria worshipped together with Christians. It was the beginning of appreciation and acceptance glowing the embers of unity among the Christians and Moslems in Nigeria. To the Christians, the gesture opened doors for evangelism and discipleship.

We in AfricanPathways congratulate the boldness of these two men for going to worship with the Christians in spite of fierce of criticisms they faced before and after these visits. At the end, Abubakar lost in the election and Buhari was re-elected the President of Nigeria for a second four-year term. We in AfricanPathways congratulate the choice of the people of Nigeria and pray for peace in the country of Nigeria. Many of the listeners to our programs live in Nigeria.

We are beginning to collaborate by integrating into our website www.africanpathways.org  a few clips of some of the programs that are broadcast daily in the shortwave radio.  We do this to accommodate our listeners who may want to listen again to programs of their choices they made have heard over their shortwave radio. These listeners can go to our website and listen yet again to many of the programs they may have missed or intended to listen to over and over. We strive to satisfy our listeners and are always looking for comments from them to help us meet their spiritual needs. As the Apostle Paul writes to the Romans, “If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well” (Romans 12:7 NLT). We want to make sure we are doing our best to serve well.

We want to recognize three of our listeners this month, Andrew Kuznetsov who wrote in from Latvia detailing all the information in the program he listened to on Africanpathways and how these programs impacted his spiritual progress in showing him a better way to walk with his creator.  To the 58 year old Martin Steiner from Denmark, we salute you. Martin wrote, “I like the message of the Bible as you presented it in a pleasant and interesting way. I also found your website www.africanpathways.org which will help me in the future to find you again in the wonderful world of shortwave radio. Thank you for your programme.”  Finally, Fabio Galeffi wrote in from Rome, Italy. Fabio would like to send two dollars to cover our response costs because he wants to study the Bible. Fabio, you do not have to send in any postage. World Christian Broadcasting sends correspondence to many like you every month at no cost. God bless you.
